Monkey and Banana Mathematics Question

Beside a little monkey has 100 bananas, it must pass through 50 meters to its' home, each time it only able to moves 50 bananas or less, it walks 1 meter have to eat one banana.

The question is:
What is the maximum quantity of bananas that monkey able to bring back home.


Hints: He may lay down the banana half way, but must guarantee that every time it walks one meter must have one banana to eat.
